Norma B. Luna

Norma B. Luna, 77, of 686 S. Henderson St., Galesburg, died at 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Cottage Hospital.  Norma was born on November 3, 1930 in Moline, the daughter of Julio and Josephine Martinez Gutierrez.  She was lovingly taken care of by her husband Carlos Luna, whom she married on November 28, 1952 in Galesburg.  She is survived by her husband, Carlos of Galesburg; 2 daughters, Debra S. Elledge of Houston, Texas and Lori Luna-Metz-Crisp of Galesburg; 2 brothers, Lionel Gutierrez of California and Manuel Gutierrez of Galesburg; and  2 sisters, Mary Louise Culk of California and Rebecca Preston of Galesburg.  Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Autumn, Emerald and Jordan Elledge all of Houston, Texas and Rodney Luna-Metz of Galesburg; several nieces and nephews including Becky Jo Avila of Galesburg.  She was preceded in death by an infant son, Rodney Carlos Luna and a brother, Henry Gutierrez.   Norma worked at various retail stores in Galesburg for many years including O.T. Johnson’s, J.C. Penney’s, Hawthorne Drug Store, and A&P Grocery.  She also worked for CUSD #205 as a lunchroom supervisor at Steele and Cooke Schools.  She was active in PTA.  Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at Corpus Christi Church.  Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Watson Funeral Home, with the rosary being prayed at 5 p.m.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the mass.  Memorials may be made to the family.
