Adeline Elesta “Addie” Weast, 95, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 9:25 a.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Allure of Knox County Nursing Home in Galesburg.


Addie was born on April 9, 1929 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the daughter of Archie and Ruby (Gilmore) Collins.


Addie was a graduate of LaHarpe High School and a graduate of the Registered Nurse training program at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg. On February 22, 1953, she married Henry “Hank” Weast at First Presbyterian Church, Galesburg. After 69 years of marriage, Hank preceded her in death on November 11, 2021.


Addie was a lifelong resident of rural Dahinda assisting Hank in the founding of two family owned and operated businesses: Weast Construction Company, Inc., in Dahinda from 1954 to 1973, and Weast Sand and Gravel, Inc., from 1973 to 2019. Addie worked as a nursing supervisor at Good Samaritan Nursing Home and Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville for many years prior to retirement.


Addie was an active member of the Dahinda Methodist Church and the Red Hats chapter in Galesburg. She was a Girl Scouts leader and Cub Scouts den mother in the 1960’s. Addie was an avid reader and enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards and other games, as well as participating in varied social activities.


Addie is survived by one son, Stephen of Maquon; and one daughter, Susan (Donald) of Channelview, Texas. Also surviving are two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven sisters; and five brothers.


Cremation will be accorded. There are no services planned at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory in Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dahinda United Methodist Church.
