Alan Dale “Uncle Al” Ward, 73, of Galesburg, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. Al was born May 22, 1948 in Galesburg, the son of Edgar Dale and Constance Norma (Clapp) Ward. He married Connie Webb on June 8, 1969. She survives. Al is also survived by one daughter, Melissa (Brien) Fell of Galesburg; and his two grandsons whom he adored, Jake and Jared Fell. Al is also survived by one sister, Pamela (Kenton) Bowles of Alpha; four nephews, Brad (Julie) Erickson, Lance (Marcie) Erickson, Leif (Jen) Erickson, and Billy (Jackie Harris) Erickson all of Galesburg; one niece, Dawn (Brian) Fossa of Jacksonville, FL; and his family at Harley’s Pub. After graduating from Galesburg High School Al went on to earn his certification in small engine repair from Kansas City US Trade School. He worked on small engines his entire life owning and operating businesses including A&C Head Shop with his good friend and business partner Chris “Wheat” Hawkinson. Al enjoyed being with his family and friends, shooting pool, playing golf, and bowling. He served at the GHS Bowling Coach for several years. Al enjoyed spending time at the river fishing and riding his motorcycle. Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held Friday June 18, 2021 at Harley’s Pub, 2243 Grand Ave, Galesburg, IL, starting at 4 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
