Alice M. Jordan, 85, of Galesburg, died at 7:40 a.m. on December 18, 2006 at Roseville County Manor, Roseville. Alice was born on November 13, 1921 in Galesburg, the daughter of Arthur C. and Inez L. Stanley Palmer. She married Edward T. Jordan on March 6, 1943 in Galesburg. He died on October 4, 1987. Surviving Alice are 3 sons, John “Tyke” (Bev) Jordan of Galesburg, Christopher (Betsy) of Williamsburg, VA, and Timothy (Martha) of Baldwin, MO; 1 daughter, Kathleen (James) Doyle of Monmouth. Also surviving are 1 brother, George W. Palmer of Green Valley, AZ, 1 sister Dorothy Carter of Galesburg, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Alice graduated from Galesburg High School and Carl Sandburg College. She was a secretary for United Facilities for 5 years, then worked as the office manager for Harrington Home for 10 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and its altar and rosary society, church women united, was a volunteer CCD teacher, and a former member of American Business Women and the National Secretary Association. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday December 21, 2006 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, with the Reverend Joseph Presley, officiating. Visitation will be from 5 –7 p.m. on Wednesday December 20, 2006 at Watson Funeral Home, with the rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
