Amy Rhea Medina, 48, of Galesburg, died peacefully at 1:03 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2019 at her home in Galesburg. Amy was born September 30, 1970 in Galesburg, the daughter of Lee and Donna Rhea (Black) Ingle. Amy attended Knoxville and ROWVA Schools, graduating in 1988. She went on to Carl Sandburg College where she received her Associates Degree in Nursing in 1995.   Amy was currently working as the Director of Nursing at Seminary Manor, where she had been for the past 14 years. Amy married Aaron Taylor on April 19, 1997. They later divorced. She married Thomas Medina on October 3, 2015 in Galesburg. Amy is survived by her husband; her parents, Lee and Donna Ingle of Galesburg; one son, Devin (Jillian) Stowe of Maquon; one daughter, Courtney Taylor of Maquon; one grandson, Rhett Stowe; one brother, Greg (Jolene) Ingle of Victoria; and two sisters, Susi (Neil) Taylor of Maquon and Lisa (Jim) Towlerton of Burlington, IA. She is also survived by two step sons, Eli and Pedro Medina both of Galesburg; one step daughter, Christi Medina of Galesburg; one brother in law, Greg Medina of Galesburg; two sisters in law, Trish Medina-Johnson and Teeny (Bob Wright) Medina both of Galesburg; her parents in law, Pete (Cheryl) Medina and Christine Medina all of Galesburg; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Amy was defined by two things, her family and her dedication to taking care and mentoring others. She also enjoyed making crafts, tending to her flowers, relaxing on her kayak and fishing. She also enjoyed cooking, listening to music, and spending time with her YaYa group. Amy requested her body be donated to science in an effort to advance health care. A celebration of Amy’s life will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday June 2, 2019 at the Thomas Legacy Center at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. A prayer service by Pastor Marty Briney and eulogies will be read at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made in Amy’s memory to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or the Alzheimer’s Association.
