Anna B. Danforth Soper, 84, of Galesburg, died at 12:25 a.m. on Friday, December 24, 2010 at Marigold Health Care Center. Anna was born on December 2, 1926 in Monmouth, the daughter of Charles and Edna (Bixler) Harris. She married Robert W. Danforth on June 28, 1942. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1961. She later married Jack Soper on September 15, 1962 in Galesburg. Anna is survived by her husband, Jack of Galesburg; 2 sons, Bob Danforth of Galesburg and Peter (and Uli) Leiner of Zweibruecken, Germany; 2 daughters, Susan K. Anderson of Galesburg and Jackie (and Dan) Watson of Canton; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Charles Harris of Monmouth; and 2 sisters, Carol (and Paul) Reimolds and Janet (and Vernon) Brentise both of Monmouth. She was preceded in death by a son Mike Danforth in 2005 and a sister, Lucille Dorothy. Anna was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, the altar and rosary society, and St. Vincent DePaul Society. She worked several years in the lunchroom at Nellie Swanson School. She later worked as a food sampling hostess at area grocery stores. Anna loved playing cards, especially with her friends, Helen Noel, Marge Smith, and Ilene Lehmen. A Funeral Mass for Anna will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Miller, I.C. officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening at Watson Funeral Home, Galesburg. Burial will be in Silent Home Cemetery, Cameron. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
