Anna Marie Nichols, 94, of Knoxville, Passed away at 7:25 a.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Knox County Nursing Home. She was born August 3, 1924 at home in Fedora, SD to Simon and Elizabeth Hughes, eighth of nine children. Ann graduated from St. Agatha’s Catholic School in Howard, SD in 1943. She met her husband Lewis, at the Meadow Grove Night Club in Sioux City, IA where he was stationed while in the Army Air Corp. The married May 29, 1946 at Corpus Christi Church, Galesburg. She is survived by her husband, Lewis; children, Connie (Larry) Hatch of Knoxville, Steve (Lola) Nichols of Galesburg, Rita Williams of Morton, Ruth Boyd of Oklahoma City, OK, Lisa (Tracy) Bales of Lake St. Louis, MO, Mike (Kris) Nichols of Grandview, MO. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Ann was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Lou in 1948 and Peggy in 1977; two brothers, six sisters, and two great grandchildren. Ann was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed gardening especially while living on the farm. She also enjoyed reading, art, poetry, bingo, and Scrabble. She was a long-time member of Corpus Christi Church, member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and the Gilson Church Ladies Aide Society. Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral Mass will follow at 2 p.m. Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Rev. Father William T. Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made in Anna ’s memory to the Knox County Nursing Home.
