Arlen Edwin Harrison, 75, of Galesburg, formerly of Abingdon, died peacefully Friday, August 27, 2021 at home with his family by his side. Arlen was born August 7, 1946 in Greeneville, TN, the son of William Boyd and Susie Ellen (McAfee) Harrison. Arlen is survived by four sons, Terry (Beverly) Harrison and Jeffrey Harrison both of Galesburg, Damon Harrison of Abingdon, and John Michael Harrison of Table Grove; one daughter, Crystal (Jeff) Howard of Gilberts; ten grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. Arlen is also survived by one brother, Rusty Harrison of Greeneville, TN; and three sisters, Kathy Green, Dottie Mathes, and Patsy Roark all of Greeneville, TN. Along with his parents, Arlen was preceded in death by eight siblings. Arlen worked as a sweeper at Abingdon Pottery until it closed in 2000. Arlen enjoyed spending time outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons in their younger years. He will be long remembered as a man with a good heart, often to a fault. Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on September 4, 2021 at Abingdon Church of God of Prophecy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made in Arlen’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
