Barbara A. Woodkirk

Barbara Ann Woodkirk, 73, a resident of the Kensington, Galesburg, IL, died at 4:35 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Barb was born in Belleville, IL on November 21, 1943. She was raised in a loving home by her parents Robert and Betty Jorn Cook. She married Larry G. Woodkirk on May 16, 1967 in Galesburg. Barb is survived by one son, Jeff of Ft. Myers, FL; one sister, Becky Shearer of Kirkwood; one sister-in-law, Cara (Terry) Boynton of Galesburg; three brothers-in-law, Ronny (Lorraine) Woodkirk of Galesburg, Tom (Polly) Woodkirk of Carlinville, Dennis Woodkirk and Greg Woodkirk both of Greenfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Larry on April 13, 2013; and one son, Scott Woodkirk on November 10, 2007. Barb graduated from Knoxville High School and attended Carl Sandburg College. She worked for several years at Bonanza in food preparation. She then worked for Galesburg District #205 for many years, retiring in 2013. Barb was an excellent jewelry maker and enjoyed giving her creations as gifts. Barb enjoyed traveling, and the family went on many road trip vacations. She attended Foursquare Gospel Church, Galesburg. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, December 26, 2016 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, with funeral services following at 11 a.m. Pastor Daniel Siems will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the Kensington Activity Fund.
