Bela Z. Wiesner, 69, of 1766 Willard St., Galesburg, died at 9:18 p.m. on Saturday March 17, 2007 at home. Bela was born on July 28, 1937 in Debrecen, Hungary the son of Bela and Katalin Szoboszlai Wiesner. He married Mary Rigg on November 5, 1965 in Galesburg. She died on April 10, 2005. Surviving are 2 daughters: Kathy (Joe) Bern and Lynne (Brad) Stevenson both of Galesburg; 1 brother Jim (Lynne) Hicks of Stillwater, MN; 5 sisters: Katalin Wiesner of Calgary, ALB, Canada, Cathy (Roger) Bessett of Richmond, VA, Margaret (Bruce) Barkley of Milwaukee, WI, Jan (Larry) Reed of St. Louis, MO, and Joyce (Don) Helander of Whitefish, MT; a ½ sister Frances Kubian of Blairmoore, ALB, Canada, 8 grandchildren, and 15 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother Gus. Bela left Hungary in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution and arrived in the United States in 1957. He became a United States Citizen on September 26, 1967. He attended Knox College. He worked at Lucky Boy Bakery, then at Club 19, and Gates Rubber Co. retiring in 2000. Bela was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking, and bowling. He bowled a 300 game in 2003. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday March 22, 2007 at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Daniel Siems, officiating. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday March 21, 2007 at Watson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Henderson Cemetery, Henderson. Memorial may be made to First Baptist Church or St. Mary’s Auxiliary.
