Berniece B. Redington

Berniece B. Redington, 94, of Monmouth, formerly of Galesburg, died at 10:25 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2009 at home.   Berniece was born on March 23, 1915 in Galesburg, the daughter of John and Ella Sheridan O’Brien.  She married John L. Redington in Louisville, KY on September 11, 1937.  He preceded her in death on December 18, 1975.  Surviving Berniece is her daughter, Ruth Ann Reynolds of Monmouth, a sister, Dorothy (Bill) Krupps of Galesburg, a special friend, Dorie Fox, 2 grand children, and 2 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Reynolds, 2 brothers, and 5 sisters.   Berniece attended rural schools and St. Joseph’s Academy.  She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Ladies of Mary.  She worked at Benners and Giant Food Service for several years.  She also worked at Western Zero Locker Plant and at Maytag as an Inspector for 15 years.  She volunteered at Cottage Hospital.    Berniece’s family was a very important part of her life.  She loved celebrating her birthday.   Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2009 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating and Deacon Will Clark assisting.  Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 at Watson Funeral Home with the rosary being prayed at 5 p.m.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church or Costa Catholic Academy.
