Betty C. Granberg

Betty Carol Granberg, 94, of Galesburg, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family at 11:42 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Betty was born August 27, 1926 in Galesburg, the daughter of John Phillip and Nellie Mae (Hays) Holcomb.  She married Charles Phillip Granberg of September 14, 1944 in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death on December 31, 2004. Betty is survived by one daughter, Karen (Mike) Powers of Galesburg; three grandchildren, Dale (Jeanne) Skinner, Aaron (Tanya) Skinner, and Allison Skinner; nine great grandchildren, Matthew (Alexandra), Morgan, Grace, Christian, Samuel, Layla, Elsie Mae, Laney, and Brooklyn; and three great great grandchildren, Julian, Layton, and Kiyahh.  Along with her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by one son, John on May 9, 1980 and one sister, Hazel Johnson. Betty was an avid bingo player and enjoyed Sudoku books, as well as gambling on the river boats.  Betty will be remembered for her honesty and her great memory.  She loved her family more than anything. Cremation was accorded.  Burial will be at a later date at Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
