Betty Jane Morrison, 89, of Galesburg, died at 10:27 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville. Betty was born May 11, 1929 in Delong, the daughter of William D. and Elizabeth (VanFleet) Young. She married Jack Eugene Morrison on May 15, 1946 in Galesburg. Jack preceded her in death after almost 67 years of marriage on January 5, 2013. Betty is survived by two sons, Philip (Patti) and Kevin (Rose) Morrison both of Galesburg; one daughter, Linda Duncan of West Virginia; as well as 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Along with her husband, Betty was preceded in death by one son, James Michael Morrison in 2000; one daughter, Patricia Wyatt in 2014; one brother; and one sister. Betty graduated from Knoxville High School. She worked as a nurse tech for several years at the Galesburg Research Hospital prior to having to retire on disability. After retirement Betty and Jack moved to the Lake of the Ozarks for 15 years, where they enjoyed the water and fishing. They travelled all over the US and spent many winters in Texas and Oklahoma. Betty and Jack were avid square and round dancers. Betty was also a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. She was an avid collector of cat plates and figurines. Cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, with Rev. Father William T. Miller officiating. A celebration of life will follow graveside services until 1 p.m. at the Thomas Legacy Center at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church or Knox County Nursing Home.
