Bonnie Kay Breeden (Gibson) passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on Monday, November 20th, 2023 at 4:57pm.
She was born January 19th, 1945. She was proceeded in death by her father William Gibson and mother Katherine Gibson (Knolls). Bonnie was an officer in the Salvation Army Corps. After leaving officership she worked in administration at Territorial headquarters (Salvation Army) and was a member of various corps (churches).
She is survived by her brother, Bob Gibson of Florida and sister, Barbara Gibson of Illinois. She is also survived by her loving husband, Robert Breeden of 53 years of marriage. Together they share three kids, Randy (Wendy) Schauer of Galesburg, IL, Rob (Julie) Breeden of Arlington Heights, IL, and Elizabeth (Will) Yacobucci of Des Plaines, IL. Bonnie is the proud “Grammy” to seven grandchildren, Kayla Schauer, Madison Schauer, Alexis Yacobucci, Matthew Yacobucci, Riley Breeden, Michael Yacobucci, and Alissa Yacobucci.
To know Bonnie is to know her love for God and her family. Those two things represented her entire world. She was a strong Christian woman and any chance she could, she would always let others know she loved them and that she had them in her prayers. Her hobbies consisted of praising the lord and spending time with her family. Bonnie also had a great love for butterflies. She is remembered as always going above and beyond for her family, especially her grandkids. She had a special individual bond with us all, but something she shared with all her grandkids was the comfort of back scratches. Something so simple as that became something we all would ask of her when we would visit. It not only represented comfort but quality time as we would talk and relax knowing we were in her hands. She was always so loving and everyone’s safe place to go to in times of need and comfort.
Her family is grateful to have been there in her final days to help comfort and take care of her as she did for us all her life. The memories with all her kids and grandkids are countless as Grammy wanted to be apart of it all. She was proud of her family and loved when we were all together, it always made her heart so full. Now she can always be sure to watch over her loved ones as our guardian angel and will remain in our hearts forever. We all were lucky to love her and to be loved by her. We know she is up in heaven rejoicing to be with God and looking down on us all.
At this time there will not be a service held. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. The family asks in lieu of flowers and memorials be sent to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation or the Salvation Army.
