Boone, formerly known as David Franklin Mahnesmith, Jr., died May 3, 2018, 1:45 pm, at the University of Iowa Veterans Hospital. Boone was born on June 4, 1960. He was the son of David F. Mahnesmith, Sr and Pamela S. Sholl. He is survived by his siblings, William (Angela) Mahnesmith of Galesburg, Larry Mahnesmith of Versalles, MO, Clayton Mahnesmith of Macomb, Robert (Kellie) Mahnesmith of Chillicothe, Kelli (Dean) Axcell of Knoxville, Shelli (john) O’Connell of Maquon, Kirk Mahnesmith and Keith Mahnesmith of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents. Boone was a veteran of the United States Navy. Per the family’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and no services are planned. A private burial of cremated remains will be held at the Rock Island Arsenal at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials in Boone’s honor may be given to the Veteran’s Association.
