Brad C. Shoemaker

Brad C. Shoemaker, 60, of Abingdon, died on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, 6:40 PM, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.  Brad was born on June 11, 1956, in Rochester, Pennsylvania. He was the son of John D. and Phyllis M. (Fiscus) Shoemaker. He is survived by a brother, Mick Shoemaker of Thailand;  friends, Mathew (Tiffany) Dowell, and their three children; Mike (Carol) Holiday, Donald Froelich, Steve Tucker, Sandra Links, all of Abingdon; and Greg (Josie) Tucker of London Mills. Brad was preceded in death by his parents.  Brad lived in California until 2011, where he moved and settled in Abingdon. He loved music, especially classic rock, and was known for his talent for beating on the drums and playing the guitar.  He was an avid NASCAR and San Diego Chargers fan. His most prized possession was his Lincoln Town Car. Brad loved to visit with his friends; but most of all enjoyed going to the cabin with Mathew. His sense of humor and his ability to tell stories will be greatly missed by those who were closest to him. Per Brad's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A private celebration of life and scattering of cremated remains will be held at a later date. Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg, are in charge of arrangements.
