Brent E. Malone

Brent E. Malone, 48, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, died Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at home.

Brent was born August 20, 1976 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Donald L. and Connie R. (Maltby) Malone. Brent graduated from Galesburg High School. Shortly after, he began working at Autozone in Galesburg, where his love for cars was born. Brent even built his own hot rod Chevy Nova. He would go on to work at RJ Race Cars and continue on as his talents grew, he went on the NHRA circuit working for Whisnant Racing, Exotic Performance Parts Racing and then becoming crew chief for Summit Racing on the Prostock Car and Prostock Truck teams. Brent also worked as crew chief at Don Baskin Truck Sales and was the general manager at Lingenfelter Performance and Engineering. His talents carried on opening and operating MalCal Fabrications. It was not uncommon for racers from other countries to call on him for advice.

Brent is survived by his son, Wyatt Malone of Alexandria, Indiana; his daughter, Kirra Malone of Alexandria, Indiana; his father, Don Malone of Abingdon; one sister, Tiffany Malone of Galesburg; his step-father, Steve Helms of Galesburg; one niece, Mackenzie Frainer; and lots of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and racing community family.

Brent was the life of the party and loved having a good time. His talents and knowledge of racing were amongst the best. He loved being with Wyatt and sharing his love of racing. So much so they had began building and racing RC cars.

Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 at the Thomas Legacy Center at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Memorials may be made in Brents memory to the family for the benefit of his children or to the Salvation Army.
