Byron Amos, Keener, 85, of Galesburg, died at 1:32 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. Byron was born July 19, 1930 in Middle Grove, the son of Byron W. and Pansy G. Morse. He married Constance C. Crouch on March 5, 1951 in Cambridge. Byron is survived by his wife, Connie of Galesburg; four daughters, Nancy G. (Jeff) Simmons, Tami Stanifer, Susan (Mike) Whitman, and Diana (Jeremy) Foster all of Galesburg. He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren, Christina Adcock, Mindy Hale, Jeffrey Simmons, Jennifer Hall, Whitney Hendricks, Jeremy Turnipseed, Stephanie Ryner, Nick Foster, Rebecca Foster, Candace Whitman, and A.J. Whitman; eleven great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and six sisters. Byron worked at Quint’s Tire Service, Gates Rubber Co., and retired from Galesburg CUSD #205. He enjoyed yard work and riding his scooter until the age of 85. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica. Most of all, Byron enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded. Private family graveside services will be held at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made in Byron’s memory to the Salvation Army.
