Carl J. Serven

Carl John Serven, 69, of Galesburg, died at 4:58 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. Carl was born on October 9, 1946 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of John J. and Beth E. Serven.  Carl worked as at Maytag for many years prior to retiring.  He enjoyed riding motorcycles and bowling.  Carl also enjoyed watching and collecting eagles. Carl is survived by three daughter, Carol Curtis of Galesburg, Cheryle Adams, and Carla Dorethy of Knoxville; one son, David Serven of Avon, MN; one brother, Richard Atwater of Knoxville; and three sisters, Suzanne Wheeler of Oquawka, Irene Childers and Eileen both of Galesburg.  She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Kyle and Timothy Allen, and Tasha Notter and 4 great grandchildren.  Carl was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Cremation rites have been accorded.  Graveside Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
