Carol F. Mcqueen

Carol F. McQueen, 64, of 2315 Monmouth Blvd, Galesburg, died at 5:55 a.m. on Friday (August 1, 2008) at home. Carol was born on September 13, 1943 in Galesburg, the daughter of Lester and Frances Kilgore Ankeney.  She married Gerald L. McQueen on September 16, 1961 in Galesburg.  Surviving are her husband, Gerald of Galesburg; 3 sons, Charles C. (Deb) of Oneida, Donald L. (Ronda) of Altona, and Gregory E. of Galesburg; a daughter, Angela (Charles) Maurizi of Galesburg; and a brother, Richard E. (Cindy) Ankeney of Galesburg.  Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Laura and Evan McQueen; Kaitlyn and Connor McQueen; and Emily and Catherine Maurizi. Carol worked as a bookkeeper at several area stores including Arlens and Belscott.  She had last worked as the parish secretary at Corpus Christi Church for over 15 years.  She was a very active member of Corpus Christi Church where she was an extraordinary minister, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, was a member of the 3rd Order of the Lay Carmelites, was a past parish council member, and had been a CCD teacher for many years. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday (August 4, 2008) at Corpus Christi Church, with the Rev. William Miller officiating.  Visitation will be on Sunday (August 3, 2008) from 2-4 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home, with the rosary being prayed at 4 p.m.  Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday (August 5, 2008) at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society or to OSF Hospice.
