Carole Jean Vandemark, 81, of Galesburg, died peacefully with her family by her side Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at home. Carole was born October 15, 1940 in Aledo, the daughter of Harold and Neva Juanita (Glidden) Bland. She married Richard Lee Vandemark on December 8, 1957 in Kewanee. Carole is survived by her husband of 64 years, Richard “Van” of Galesburg; two sons, Jeffrey (Edwina) Vandemark and Brian Vandemark both of Knoxville, IL; one daughter, Lisa Fahner of Ormond Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Batchelder, Brett (Denise) Vandemark, Bradley (Amanda) Vandemark, and Alyssa (Jeremy) Botelho; eleven great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. Carole is also survived by one sister, Anne Rose Altis of Monmouth, IL. Carole worked for many years as a bank teller at First Midwest Bank in Knoxville and at the fine jewelry counter at J.C. Penney’s in Galesburg. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Carole enjoyed being at home surrounded by her family. Cremation will be accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be designated at a later date.
