Carole L. Mayberry

Carole Lea Mayberry, 81, formerly of Monmouth, died at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Marigold Health Care and Rehab, Galesburg. Carole was born July 2, 1939 in Whiteside County, IL the daughter of Joseph Henry and Helen Audrey (Crossley) Rose.  She married William Hart on July 6, 1957.  She later married John Mayberry on February 14, 1990.  Carole is survived by one daughter, Jo-Lea Hart Coffman of Erie; and one son, William E. (Debra) Hart of Galesburg; three grandchildren, Danielle McIntyre of LaHarpe, Emily Hart of Boulder, CO, and Jaclyn Coffman of Port Byron; eleven great grandchildren; and one sister, Linda Tempel of Fairfield Bay, AR.  Carole was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dale Rose. Carole graduated from Tampico High School and was a past member of Tampico Church of Christ.  She attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Monmouth and was a lifetime member of the VFW and had been active at the Rock Falls and Fairfield Bay, AR VFW’s.  Carole volunteered for many years as a Boy Scout and Brownies troop leader as well as being a room mother.  She enjoyed playing pool and was in pool leagues for several years.  Carole also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and sewing.  Cremation has been accorded.  A celebration of Carole’s life will be held in May.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice or to the VFW.
