Carolyn E. Salsman, 76, a resident of the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, formerly of Galesburg, died at 3:20 a.m. Monday, October 21, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Carolyn was born May 11, 1937 in Canton, the daughter of Paul and Mary (O’Rourke) Conrad. Carolyn graduated from Canton High School and went on to work as an inspector at Admirals in Galesburg. She was a licensed day care provider for 20 years. She was a past member of Fulton and Knox County Genealogical societies. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Carolyn enjoyed country music and decorating for the holidays. She married Jerry A. Salsman on February 16, 1968 in Canton, he survives of Galesburg. Carolyn is also survived by two daughters, Julie (Cody) Lougee of North Pole, AK and their two children whom Carolyn cherished, McKelty and Jonah Lougee of North Pole, AK; and Jill (Kenneth) Leer of Chanhassen, MN. She is also survived by two sisters, Diana Craig and Nancy Taylor of Canton; and two brothers, John (Peggy) Conrad of Canton and Larry Conrad of Macomb. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Mary Conrad and a younger brother, Bill Conrad. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Greenwood Cemetery, Canton. Visitation will be 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society.
