Cathy L. Derose

Cathy Louise DeRose, 61, of Galesburg, Illinois, was unexpectedly called home to be with the Lord on January 21, 2025.

Cathy was born July 15, 1963 in Augusta, Georgia, the daughter of Ben DeRose and Dorothy “Dottie” (Paben) Hess. Cathy is survived by her daugher, Melissa DeRose-Joslin of Katy, Texas; her son, Dalton Berglan of Kingwood, Texas; her granddaughter Maya Morgan of Katy, Texas; her father and stepmother, Ben and Patti DeRose of Clarksville, Tennessee; one brother, Donald Switzer of Augusta, Illinois, one sister Penny L. DeRose of Arkansas, and her fur baby Bella. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy “Dottie” Hess in 2022, and her stepfather Charles Henry Hess in 2019.

Cathy was a beloved member of her community and spent the majority of her time as a caretaker for those in need. She loved spending time with her family and friends and will be missed dearly.

Cremation has been accorded. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
