Charles Dale Ellison

Charles Dale Ellison, 87, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at River Pointe Health Campus in Evansville.

He was born on August 16, 1935 in Galesburg, Illinois to the late Charles Elof and Francis Pauline (Scott) Ellison.

Growing up in a railroad family, Charles too was a conductor, engineer and brakeman for Burlington Northern. He was a well-travelled man, an antique collector, as well as a master Bridge player and even had written a book on moves and strategies in the game.

Aside from the railroad, Charles also worked as an HVAC technician and was a serial entrepreneur having once owned Tri-County Appliances, Ellison Television & Appliances, Able Company, and A-Windsor Sheet Metal.

He is survived by his children, Brenda Ellison (Mike Kimes), Steve Ellison (Denise), Greg Ellison (Amy), Kyle Ellison (Rebecca) and Erin Dorn (Nate); step-children, Ryan Anderson and Brett Anderson (Jodi); grandchildren, Brian Ellison (Caroline), John Ellison, Andrew (Breanna) Ellison, Grace Ellison, Alexandria Johnson, Camden Dorn and Brooklyn Dorn as well as his great-grandchildren, Connor and Sydney.

Charles is preceded in death by his son, David Ellison and his siblings, James Ellison and Janice Harrison.

Funeral Mass for Charles will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Galesburg, Illinois. Father Lee Brokaw will officiate. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in Galesburg, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg, Illinois.
