Charles E. “Charlie” James, 63, of Galesburg, died Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at home. Charlie was born June 2, 1955 in Galesburg, the son of Carl Edward and Anna Lucille (Curfman) James. Charlie is survived by his mother, Lucille Bundren of Galesburg; a son, Josh (Jennifer) Knight of Manhattan, KS; a brother, Jerry (Jamie) James of Joplin, MO; three nieces, Kelly Barton and Clair Ebbing both of Moline, and Staci (Chase) Ramsey of Ft. Worth, TX; a nephew, Alec James of San Diego, CA; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Vern James. Charlie served in the US Navy. Prior to returning to Galesburg, Charlie had lived in Albuquerque, NM for 40 years. While living in NM Charlie graduated from Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute in 2001. After returning to Galesburg, Charlie worked for a time at St. Mary’s Square Living Center and the Galesburg Public Library prior to becoming a full-time caregiver for his mom. In his free time, Charlie enjoyed fishing, spending time in the mountains, and watching sports on television. Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the Thomas Legacy Center at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
