Charles "Greg" Peterson

Charles G. “Greg” Peterson, 52, of Galesburg, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017, 5:05 pm, at his home. Greg was born on August 16, 1965, in Galesburg. He was the son of Cora (Stout) and Charles Peterson. He is survived by his mother, Cora of Galesburg; father Charles (Marcia) Peterson of North Liberty, Iowa; a brother, Rick of Galesburg; four sisters, Tracey (Pat Moore) Morgan, of Galesburg, Terri (Mark) Keene of Wisconsin, Melissa Peterson of Illinois, and Stephanie (Matt) Coffey of North Liberty, Iowa; two nieces, five nephews, and two great nephews, all of whom he loved like his own children. Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents, two uncles and an aunt. Greg is a graduate of the ROWVA Class of 1983. He worked as a bartender at Schooners, and the Knights of Columbus. He also worked for Land Starr as an expeditor for 15 years. To say Greg was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan could not come close to justifying his love of the Redbirds. He also cheered for the Chicago Bears during football season. He played in multiple Dart Leagues, even winning first and second place at State Level tournaments.  He loved to participate in Fantasy Football leagues, play golf, watch movies, and debate politics with whomever would challenge him. Most of all he was a great uncle, brother, son, and friend. Per Greg’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of Greg’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at The Thomas Legacy Center, 1849 N Seminary Street, Galesburg. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be donated to the family.
