Charlotte Ilene Wetterow, 81, of Galesburg, IL, died peacefully, Monday, October 28, 2024 at Allure of Lake Storey in Galesburg.


Charlotte was born November 8, 1942 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Carl and Neona M. (McGrew) Cooper. Charlotte graduated from Knoxville High School and went on to work many jobs: She worked for several years in the office at Maytag, admitting at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, union bookkeeper for Iowa Malleable. Charlotte later earned her EMT certification and worked for Galesburg Hospitals Ambulance Service (GHAS). Her final job was working in home healthcare.


Charlotte is survived by one son, William Terry (Jeannie) Boynton, Jr. of Galesburg, IL, and four daughters: Debbie (Mark) Larson of Knoxville, IL, Barb (Tom) Sherwin of Galesburg, IL, Sherry Broussard of Henderson, IL, and Shelly (Reggie) Sims-Wetterow of Galesburg, IL. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Jeremy, Chelsie, Mark, Christopher, Cassie, Leroy Jr., Jacinta, Andrew, Josephine, Kayla, Jacob, Traivon, and Arriell, 12 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, a grandson (Robby Whitlatch), granddaughter (Amanda Sherwin), one brother (Virgil Griffith), and one sister (Marie Tucker).


Charlotte had an affinity for games; from video and board games, Bingo, and card games. She loved spending time outdoors gardening and being with her family: coaching her daughters’ softball teams, and later spending time with her grandchildren.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 1st from 4:00p.m.-6:00p.m. at Henderson Township Fire Protection District located at 103 E. South St., Henderson, IL 61439. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg, IL.
