Cheryl Jolene Hund

Cheryl Jolene Hund, 72, of Galesburg, died at 3:28 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Hospital, Peoria.   Cheryl was born December 7, 1942 in Galesburg. She married James Sparks, Sr. in a ceremony at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Galesburg, April of 1961. Together they had three children, James (Debbie) Sparks, Jennifer Hund both of Galesburg, and Andrew Hund. Later she married Earl P. Hund in June of 1982 in a ceremony in Idaho. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2005.    Cheryl is survived by her two children, James (Debbie) Sparks, Jennifer Hund, and one grandson, Kevin Hund of Denver, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her son, Andrew Hund on April 26, 2015 and her husband Earl.   Cheryl was an LPN, retiring in the 1980’s. She had a passion for taking care of others.  Cheryl loved nature and the outdoors, one of her favorite activities with Earl was to go bird watching. She loved dragon flies. She loved being a homemaker, cooking, and enjoyed kids. She was an avid reader with an extensive book collection. Cheryl had a joy for life and asked her loved ones to not weep for her, because this is not a sad occasion, and when you see a dragon fly to please think of me.       Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg with Rev. William T. Miller, IC officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
