Christine Franz Mellish, 75 of Bolingbrook, Illinois died peacefully at her home in Bolingbrook Illinois on April 11th.


She was the daughter of Bill Franz and Barbara Parkins Franz, had one brother, Mikey Franz, and one sister, Joan Franz Schott. Her children include Brad & Greg Bennett & Erin Miller Garfield, stepchildren Dave & Dan Mellish, & Anna Mellish Noschese. Her beloved grandchildren include, Tabetha Bennett Smith, Nathan & Sam Bennett, Olivia Bennett Greving, Nicholas Simpson, Jackson & Mary Jeanne Garfield, Vivienne & Vincent Bennett, along with Owen, Paloma, Theo, Genevieve, Lauren & Lindsey Mellish; she was also blessed with 6 great grandchildren.


Christine was a nurse for many years at Drs. Cannon & Holland in Galesburg, and a preschool teacher for the Bolingbrook Park district. Christine was heavily involved with the Prairie Players for many years, enjoyed SCUBA diving, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren & the love of her life, her husband, Don Mellish. Chris loved to capture memories with photos & is known for her volumes of albums she meticulously assembled since the 1960’s, including photo books for her grand & great grandchildren. Christine was also known for never forgetting a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion that always included a card or handwritten note in the mail. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and grandson, Nathan.


There will be a memorial mass at Corpus Christi church in Galesburg on April 27th at 11:00 am with internment of ashes immediately following at St. Joseph’s cemetery. A small reception for family & friends will be at Cherry St. after the internment. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Von Hippel Lindau Foundation; PO BOX 844682 Boston MA 02284-4682.
