Dale L. Bellamy, 89, of Galesburg, died at 5 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2018 at Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg. Dale was born August 1, 1928 in Fairfield, IA, the son of Claude and Violet Barber Bellamy. Dale married Beverly L. Switzer Humes on July 16, 1973 in Edwardsville. She survives of Galesburg. Dale is also survived by one son, Ricky Bellamy of Arizona; one daughter, Nancy Burkhart of Victoria, TX; three step sons, Chuck, Cary, and Dick Humes all of Galesburg; one step daughter, Chyrstal Higgins of Orlando, FL; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dale is also survived by three sisters, Margaret Boyer and Alice Madvig both of Galesburg, and Sharon Jacobson of Altona. He was preceded in death by his parents. Dale served in the US Army, serving in Korea. He worked as a glass glazier at Galesburg Glass for 33 years. He was an avid fisherman and a Pittsburgh Pirates fan. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made in Dale’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choosing.
