Dana Shallenberger, 48, of 130 Ohio Avenue, Galesburg, died at 10:44 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2006 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center. She was born February 22, 1958 in Galesburg, Illinois to Daniel and Mercedes White Mooney. She married Keith “Doug” Shallenberger on May 28, 1993 in Galesburg. Surviving are her husband of Galesburg; a son, Preston Shallenberger at home; a step-daughter, Jennifer Shallenberger of Pekin; a step-son, Aaron Shallenberger of Pekin; her father and step-mother, Daniel and Connie Mooney of Avon; her mother, Mercedes Inman of Oak Run; two brothers, Dan Mooney of Minooka and Sean Mooney of Macomb. Also surviving is a granddaughter, Brooklyn Carlson of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Carlson on April 15, 2005. She graduated from Carl Sandburg College with Associate’s degrees in Accounting, Marketing and Mortuary Science. She was employed by the Knox County Circuit Clerk’s Office for 12 years. She was the stenographer for the Knox County Coroner’s Office for three years and was serving her second term on the Knox County Board. She was a Democratic Precinct Committeewoman for several years. She was a member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association and the Illinois County Officials Association. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 10 at Watson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Watson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to an education fund for her son.
