Daniel G. Coleman

Daniel George Coleman, 90, of 1257 W. Main St., Galesburg, died at 7:47 a.m. Sunday, August 02, 2009 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.    Daniel was born on August 13, 1918 in Watson, IN the son of Daniel E. and Mary R. Graft Coleman.  He married Lucille Siwinski on October 5, 1940 in Chicago.  She preceded him in death on December 16, 2003.  Surviving is his daughter, Carol (and Fred) McAlister, of Galesburg; and 3 grandchildren, Christine, Daniel, and Timothy McAlister.  He was preceded in death by 1 brother and 4 sisters.   Daniel graduated from Mooseheart High School.  He served in the US Navy from July 20, 1944 to February 9, 1946.   He owned and operated Coleman’s Heating and Air Conditioning for many years, retiring in 1985.  He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Father J.O. Hunt Knights of Columbus Council 556, was a 50 year member of Moose Lodge 880, a life member of VFW Post 2257, and a 50 year member of Sheet Metal Workers International Association.   Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with Rev. William Miller officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home with the rosary being prayed at 8 p.m.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to Corpus Christi Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
