Daryl Eugene Johnson

Daryl E. Johnson, 80, of North Henderson, died at 11:13 p.m. Sunday February 14, 2016 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Daryl was born November 27, 1935 in Aledo, the son of Earl Fredrick and Margie Ann (Cooper) Johnson.  He married Barbara Ann Swihart on July 5, 1958 in North Henderson, Illinois. Daryl is survived by his loving wife, Barbara of North Henderson; his 5 sons, David (Connie) Johnson of Logan, Iowa, Darin (Tammy) Johnson of Galesburg, D. Scott Johnson of Rio, Marty (Angie) Johnson of Knoxville, Chris (Jenny) Johnson of Hannah City; 4 siblings, Charles (Marilyn) Johnson of Alexis, DeLane (Janet) Johnson of Carbon Cliff, Martha, (Terry) Hudson of Galesburg, and Frank (Pam) Johnson of Monticello, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. Daryl was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Faye and Dick. Daryl attended Alexis High School graduating in 1954. He then joined the US Army, where he served his country from 1955-1957 in the Korean War. After his tour in the army was finished, he settled in Knox County where he farmed for 40 years. Upon retiring from farming, Daryl worked as a crop adjuster. He enjoyed being out on the farm, but most of all, he loved spending time with his loving wife and family.  Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of Daryl’s life will be held Friday, February 19, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg, Illinois.
