David A. King

David Alan King, 73, of Galesburg, Illinois, died Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.

David was born June 25, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Edward L. and Marcella B. (Matthews) King. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1968 and Carl Sandburg College in 1983. David served in the US Air Force from 1969 until he was honorably discharged in 1972. David last worked as a dark room technician at Cottage Hospital until 2005.

David was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan; enjoyed fishing, camping, local dirt track racing, and playing cards with family. He could often be found enjoying 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s rock.

David is survived by one son, Nathan (Quinn) King of East Galesburg, Illinois; one daughter, Danielle Fleming of Galesburg; and four grandchildren, Leslie (Ashton) Hanson, Alexis Ladendorf, Olivia King, and Ethan King. He is also survived by two brothers, Dennis King and Dale King both of Galesburg; and one sister, Diana (Charlie) Hayes of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2024 at St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg with military rites conducted by the Knox Co. Honor Guard. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
