Debra Cartee

Debra Louise Cartee, 51, of Galesburg, died at 2:40 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Heartland Health Care, Galesburg. Debbie was born November 21, 1964 in Galesburg, the daughter of James W. and Gloria R. Sweet Cooper. She married Maurice Cartee on April 5, 1992. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2012. Debbie is survived by one daughter, Brandi Cartee of Galesburg; her parents, James and Gloria Cooper of Abingdon; three brothers, Michael Cooper of Mississippi, James Cooper of Sandwich, and Kenny Cooper of Abingdon; and two sisters, Connie Dowd of Key West, FL and Crystal Cooper of Galesburg. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Tomas Foutch, Maurus Thomas, and Malachi Thomas. Debbie will be remembered as a great mother and caretaker. As an animal rights activist, the house was always full of different animals. She enjoyed walking, word searches and loved the water. She enjoyed cruising the country and taking scenic routes wherever she was driving. Cremation rites will be accorded. No services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
