Dolores "Dollie" M. Barton

Dolores “Dollie” M. Barton, 74, of 752 E. Third St., Galesburg, IL, died at 12:25 a.m. on Tuesday July 17, 2007 at Cottage Hospital.  Dollie was born on September 11, 1932 in Galva, IL, the daughter of John A. and Ruth Yocum Zetterberg.  She married Richard J. Barton on February 26, 1960 in Galesburg, IL.  Surviving Dollie is her husband Richard; 2 sons: Donald (Peggy) Barton and Richard Mark Barton, all of Galesburg; 1 daughter Diane A. (Richard) Norton of Limestone, Maine; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons.  Dollie was preceded in death by a daughter Rishey (Ricky) Carter, 1 son Pete Yelm, 2 brothers: John R. Zetterberg and Max Zetterberg, and 1 sister Glona Weeks.   Dollie graduated from Galva High School and worked in nursing at the Galesburg Mental Health Center for 30 years.  She then worked at Henry Hill Correctional Center retiring in September of 1989.  Dollie was the Chairperson for the Elizabeth Circle at the Faith United Methodist Church; a member of both the Red Hat Society in the Chapter of Merry Hearts and the Sunshine Girls Friendship Group.  Dollie was an accomplished cross-stitcher and avid photographer and enjoyed making gifts for family and friends.  A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday July 29, 2007 at Faith United Methodist Church, with Pastor Paul Newhall officiating.  A private family burial of ashes will be held at Galva Cemetery at a later date.  Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church.  Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.watsonfh.net.
