Dorothy M. Simon

Dorothy M. Simon, 89, of Galesburg, IL formerly of Chicago Heights, IL died at 6:34 a.m. on July 14 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.  She was born on April 22, 1917 in Chicago Heights the daughter of Frank and Margaret Welsh Cull.  She married S. Howard Simon on November 27, 1942 in Stockton, CA.  He preceded her in death.  She is survived by 4 sons:  Barry (Abby) of Sudbury, MA;  Dennis of Freeport, IL; Richard of Phoenix, AZ; and William (Estrella) Gwinn, MI.  3 daughters:  Cathy (Richard) Wollum and Suellen (Jim) Purlee both of Galesburg; and Sara (Paul) Dean of LaGrange Park, IL.  1 brother: Donald (Louise) Cull of Chicago Heights, IL.  2 sisters:  Marion Dandurand of Park Forest, IL and Rosemary Olympia Fields, IL.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 1 brother.   Helen was a volunteer at St. James Hospital Auxillary in Chicago Heights, a member of Infant Jesus of Prague in Flossmoor and past president of the church woman’s club.  A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday July 18 at Infant Jesus of Prague in Flossmoor.  Burial of ashes will be in Bronswood Cemetery in Oak Park, IL.  Watson Funeral Home, Galesburg is in charge of arrangements.  Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.watsonfh.net.
