Douglas Kent Starr, 64, of Tremont, passed peacefully at home, December 27, 2020.    Doug was born May 10, 1956 in Galesburg, to Ronald and Delores (Tharp) Starr.  He married Connie (Motz) Starr October 28, 1978 in Galesburg.  Doug is survived by his wife of 42 years, Connie of Tremont; two sons, Ronald (Samantha) Starr of Hopedale and Tyler (Kirstin) Starr of Pekin; one granddaughter, Kinzley Starr; two sisters, Rhonda (Steve) Kistler and Sandra (Scott) Smith both of Galesburg; and one sister-in-law, Donna Starr.  Doug was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Duff Starr.  Doug was a caring, hardworking man, that did any and all to support and protect his family.  He was owner/president of Starr Builders and Sons, which he started in the spring of 1975.  Relocating to the Peoria area in 1989, he continued the business.  Doug’s projects were top notch, and always a step ahead of the competition.  He didn't do things the right way or wrong way, he always did them "Doug's Way."  Doug was also very active in the local bass fishing tournament scene.  He started Bass 25 club in the spring of 2002, and provided local anglers the chance to compete at a high level, with great earnings.  He was an integral part in all things bass fishing in central Illinois, and this truly was his deepest passion.  Visitation will be 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2020 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Graveside services and burial will follow at 2:15 p.m. at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.  Pastor Dave Craig will officiate.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to the family.
