Dr. Jeffrey Hill

Dr. Jeffrey Hill, 82, of Galesburg, Illinois, died peacefully Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, with his family by his side.

Born on April 13, 1942 in Neath, Wales, UK the son of Mary (Rees) and Joseph Charles Hill. Jeffrey went on to marry Christine Anne Weaver on January 18, 1964 in Bridgend, Wales, UK. He went on to graduate with his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Wales, Cardiff. Dr. Hill practiced family medicine in England for 10 years prior to emigrating to Galesburg, Illinois with his wife and family on January 1, 1980. Dr. Hill had a long and honorable career in Galesburg, practicing family medicine. He semi-retired in 2022 from his practice, continuing on caring for residents in nursing homes, and was currently serving as medical director for Traditions Hospice until his passing.

Dr. Hill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Chris of Galesburg; two daughters, Nicola (the late Laurence Msall) Hill of Inverness, Illinois and Rebecca (Steve) Zimmerman of Palatine, Illinois; two sons, Simon (Debby) Hill of Palatine and Benjamin (Jurate) Hill of Chicago, Illinois; and one sister, Moreen (Jeffrey) Parr of Neath, Wales, UK. He is also survived by his beloved thirteen grandchildren, Alex, Samantha, Thomas, Tess, Oscar, Camden, Chloe, Gwen, Dylan, Wyatt, Lucy, Camille, and Matilda; and four great grandchildren. Dr. Hill was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family services were held Friday, August 23, 2024 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Cremation was accorded following services. In honor of Dr. Hill’s love for animals, memorial contributions may be directed to the Knox County Humane Society.
