Edward Young

Mr. Edward A. Young, 49, of Galesburg, died at 12:17 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013 in Galesburg. Ed was born October 15, 1963 in Galesburg, the son of Floyd and Sheila C. (Kennedy) Young.  Ed was a devoted father to his son, Matthew of Galesburg; beloved son to his father, Floyd of Galesburg; and a devoted sibling to his brother, John (Kelly) of Elmwood and  sister, Amy (Scott) Roth of Galesburg.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Sheila. Ed worked for the US Postal Service as a letter carried for 26 years, retiring in 2011.  Ed belonged to the National Association of Letter Carriers and the NRA.  In his free time, Ed enjoyed being outdoors.  He especially loved golfing, hunting, fishing, and camping.  Ed was a lifelong diehard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.  He loved Jazz and Blues, and loved to play his harmonica and enjoyed photography. Visitation will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for Matthew that will be established at F&M Bank. Memorials may also be made to OSF charities.
