Ellen D. Smith

Ellen Smith, 89, formerly of Galesburg, died at 8:30 a.m. on June 2, 2014 at HillTop Nursing Home in Weatherford, TX where she moved October 16, 2010. She was born on August 30, 1925 in Pearl, Illinois to Walter Acel and Iva Mamie (Myers) Grafford.  She married Calvin Smith Jan 6, 1951and lived in Galesburg. She retired from Lombard Junior High School Cafeteria. She attended the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Galesburg.  Ellen sang at many different nursing homes in the Galesburg area. She is survived by nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin on January 4, 2012; mother,  Iva Mamie Grafford;  father, Walter Acel Grafford; sisters, Bertha Jamison, Lora White, Clara Holder, Bessie Marshall; and a Brother Clarence Grafford.  Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse, IL.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg, IL.
