Emanuel L. Mixon

Emanuel Leon Mixon, 50, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 5:28 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2025.

Emanuel was born on May 24, 1974 in Galesburg, the son of Marie V. (Brown) and Orville D. Mixon. He graduated from Galesburg High School and worked for many years as a self-employed handyman.

Emanuel is survived by his mother, Marie of Galesburg; two sons, Deantrae Mixon of Peoria, Illinois and Maze Onyx Mixon of Galesburg; and one granddaughter, Harlow Mixon. He is also survived by one brother, John (Kelly) Mixon of Houston, Texas; and two sisters, Melvajean Brown of Houston, Texas and Jackie Mixon of Galesburg. Emanuel was preceded in death by his father in 2010.

He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was detailing his car or fishing. Emanuel loved playing basketball, including his years while at Lombard and GHS. He was social and enjoyed talking to his many friends and family.

Private family services will be held. Cremation will be accorded. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
