Emily Ann Yackshaw

Emily Ann Yackshaw, 91, originally from Clinton, Iowa but current resident of Marigold Health Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois, died at 10:43 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008.  Emily was born on January 6, 1917 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of John and Catherine Theresa Hyde Yackshaw. Surviving Emily is one brother, Robert Yackshaw of Cleveland, Ohio, and two sisters: Mardelle Yackshaw of Wilmington, Delaware and Sister Mary Amata of Davenport, Iowa. She is also survived by 36 nieces and nephews. Emily was preceded in death by a brother, John Matt Yackshaw of Clinton, Iowa and two sisters: Helen Behlke of Galesburg, Illinois and Lorraine Low of DeKalb, Illinois.  Emily graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Clinton, Iowa. She was employed with the Department of Iowa Handicapped and Disabled in Des Moines, Iowa for over 30 years. While in Des Moines she was an active member and organist at St. Augustin, a member of St. Mary’s while in Clinton, IA and member of Immaculate Heart while in Galesburg, Illinois.    Funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clinton, Iowa. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clinton.
