Emma J. Foreman

GALESBURG --- Emma J. “Susie” Foreman, 89, of Galesburg passed away at 6:58 a.m. on July 11, 2013 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center. She was born July 23, 1923 in Galesburg to Thomas and Marie Weinberg Cushman and married George Foreman on January 29, 1948 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2001. Susie is survived by two sons, Roger Foreman of Austin, TX and Brian Foreman of Eagan, MN; five grandchildren, Eric Foreman, Nathan Foreman, Elsbeth Foreman, Joel Foreman, and Elliott Foreman; a brother, Rodney Cushman of Galt, IL; and a sister, Alberta Bone of Kansas City, MO. Her sister Charlotte Swanson of Galesburg preceded her in death. After graduating from Galesburg High School and Brown’s Business College, Susie worked for the Navy Department in Washington, D.C, then Mayo General Hospital, and the University of Illinois in Galesburg where she met and married George. She continued working at the Veterans Administration and Butler Manufacturing before staying home to raise her children. Over the years, Susie was a frequent exhibitor at the Knox County fair of her ceramics, china painting and flowers. She was also a second generation member of Central Congregational Church. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home. A graveside service is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013 at Linwood Cemetery.
