Frances L. “Fran” Tolle, 89, of Galesburg, died at 4:49 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. She was born December 3, 1923 in Port Arthur, Texas to Nicholas and Mary Gagliano DiPrima.  She married James S. Tolle on October 2, 1946 in Galesburg.  He died October 25, 1971. Surviving are one daughter, Mary J. (Donald) Verstraete, Carrollton, Texas; four sons, J. Steven (Pat) Tolle, John D. (Susan) Tolle, Andrew E. (Janet) Tolle, all of Galesburg; and Mark J. Tolle, Wheeling; a brother, Nicholas DiPrima, Addison, Texas; a daughter in law, Susan Tolle, Ferguson, MO; ten grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas G. Tolle, five sisters, and two brothers. She lived in Galesburg most of her life, graduating from GHS in 1942, attended the Art Institute of Chicago, and received a certificate for office clerk receptionist from Carl Sandburg College.  She was a homemaker and worked at the former Wolfsies Fabric Shop for five years, also worked twenty years in the office of Raymond “Bud” Nelson and LeAnne Gross, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Corpus Christi Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.  She was a volunteer at her church, the former St. Joseph’s Academy and Costa High School, St. Patrick’s Church, and OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center Auxiliary.  An amateur artist, she was a member of the former Galesburg Artist Guild.  She enjoyed painting, drawing, sewing, and quilting. Memorial Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  Rev. William Miller, IC will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  No visitation is planned.  Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.   Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home, Galesburg.
