Frances M. Kachanuk died Wednesday August 7, 2013 at 12:40 p.m. at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL surrounded by her family. She was born April 19, 1933 to Walter J. and Hazel E. (McIntosh) Winsett in Nortonville Ky. She married the love of her life, John in Chicago on September 13, 1952. They would have celebrated their 61st anniversary next month. She is survived by five children, Jeff, (Becky) of Evansville In, Mark, (Lori) of Peoria, AZ, DeDe (Robert) of Waterville OH, John, (Jenny) of Havana, IL, Sandy, (Scott) of Palm City FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Adam, Sarah, Ty, Max, Ella, Sam, Austin, Abby, Brady and Sydney. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Alexa, Laci, Abbott, Carys, and Baker. Fran is also survived by her best friend Jane Vitone Henderson NV. She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister Helen, and 3 grandchildren, Issaiah, Patricia, Emily. Mom was a licensed hair stylist who took great pride in cutting hair. She retired from Sears in Galesburg after 17 years. Mom loved to cook and bake, her home was always opened to anyone in need and she always put everyone else first. She loved her husband, children and grandchildren dearly. Mom was dedicated member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran church where she was known best for her sloppy Joes. Funeral service will be held At St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Havana at 10:00 am Wednesday morning with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Pastor Dan Smith will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday night from 6 to 8 pm at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home in Galesburg and on Tuesday night at Hurley Funeral home in Havana from 5 to 8 pm. Memorials can be made to either Mt. Calvary or St. Paul’s Lutheran Churches. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.watsonthomas.com. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Mary’s and St. Francis Hospital Neuroscience ICU unit for their care.
