Francis M. “Web” Allen, 86, of Galesburg died at 8:27 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg. Web was born July 27, 1924 in Knoxville, the son of Bert and Gladys (Johnson) Allen. He married Jennie Tabbone in June 1950. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2008. He is survived by a daughter, Judy Griffith (son-in-law Jeff) of Erie, CO; a son, Mark Brown (daughter-in-law Pam and granddaughter Holly) of Dahinda; two grandsons, Dustin (granddaughter in-law Jessica and great-granddaughter Emmy) of Thornton, CO and Chad (granddaughter-in-law Chelsea) of Littleton, CO and a sister, Eva Marie Seiler of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by one sister. Web graduated from Knoxville High School and went on to become a train controller for the C.B. & Q. Railroad and later Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired in 1984 after 42 years. He refereed basketball, football, track, and baseball at the high school and college levels for 36 years. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Watson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
