Frederick D. Rhodes of El Paso died at River Crossing Rehab in Galesburg Sunday March 15, 2015 at 4:30 PM. Fred was born September 26, 1937 in Paxton, Illinois. He married Anna M. Hall in Saybrook on September 16, 1961. She survives, also surviving are two sons Daniel Rhodes of El Paso and David Rhodes of Orlando, Florida along with one grandson and one granddaughter. Also surviving are three brothers Donald (Mary) Rhodes of Gibson City, Edward (Karen) Rhodes of Palm Harbor Florida, and Jay (Linda) Rhodes of Dahinda . Fred was preceded in death by one brother Richard Rhodes and two sisters Faye Rhodes Watkins and Mary Ann Taylor Seldon. Fred graduated from Gibson City High School and served two years in the Army in Korea. He was a member of The First Baptist Church in El Paso. He worked with the Boy Scouts many years, was a member of the Sound of Illinois Barbershop Chorus and the American Passion Play. He enjoyed fishing, Chicago Bears, The Fighting Illini basketball and was an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed time helping others and visiting different areas of interest and historical sites. Fred was a life member of Gibson Lodge #733 AF&AM. He will be missed by many. Memorial tributes may be made to the First Baptist Church, El Paso, Illinois.
