George Frank Sperry, 87, of Galesburg, died at 11:15 a.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 in Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg. George was born February 18, 1930 in Galesburg, the son of John James and Margery K. (Burkinshaw) Sperry. He married Patricia Jane Harris on January 16, 1970 in Chicago. George is survived by his wife, Patricia of Galesburg; three daughters, Susan (Gene) Sullivan of Galesburg, Sheri Shepherd of Galesburg, and Sandy Elliott of New Salisbury, Indiana; three sons, Steve (Becky) Sperry of Galesburg, Jim Sperry of rural Oneida, and Jack Sperry of Galesburg; as well as 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. George served in the U.S. Army. He was a life member of Alpha Masonic Lodge 155 A.F.&A.M. where he served as treasurer for over 20 years. George was also a member of Bethel White Shrine and Galesburg Chapter of the Eastern Star. He worked as a farmer and owned and operated Riteway Disposal in Galesburg and the Quad Cities for many years. Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded and no services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made in George’s memory to the Galesburg Rescue Mission or Alpha Lodge #155.
